Abstract:

ReMedial Grammar Advanced is intended to help advanced learners of English better to understand how grammar works in context - at their respective individual paces. The course is not intended as yet another grammar of English; there are plenty of good student grammars available already. Nor is it strictly a grammar course, with basic structures at the beginning and a systematic progression to more complex ones. In the exercises, all finite and non-finite verb forms can come up, and in our explanations we presuppose a reasonable awareness of the actual rules and give reminders of how they are to be applied in context.

ReMedial Grammar Advanced is intended as an online component of a classroom course; it is not to be recommended for use without backup at your university or polytechnical college. Lern- und Qualifikationsziele:

The course enables the learner to test his or her own performance against one of the ultimate learning objectives of their training. The course of learning is determined by the learner's individual mistake therapy for his/her grammatical weaknesses. The actual work done will differ for everyone according to their linguistic means and needs. The methodology is geared towards involving the learner by demanding constant decisions - from clicking to syllabus design. The potential level of involvement and activation, incidentally, is one of the main advantages of self-instructional phases over the contact teaching components of a blended-learning course. The decisions the learner has to take concern the individual route the learner chooses to follow - whether he/she prefers to learn deductively, from rule to example, or inductively, from example to rule; whether they decide to re-try after an error or simply look up the answer; whether they would like to explore all possible answers for a task or whether any acceptable answer will do ...
