Anatomy and physiology: Anatomical basics, thoracic organs and musculoskeletal system

Anmeldung: Anmeldung nicht möglich - Anmeldefrist beachten

For academic health professionals

Inhalt

Abstract:

The aims of this course are to impart medical knowledge and an understanding of human anatomy and physiology. The basic knowledge of medical terminology, also with regard to communication between members of medical professions, should be taught. The understanding of relevant clinical pictures (pathology and pathophysiology) is also part of this course.
As existing courses are primarily aimed at students of human medicine, this course is specifically tailored to the requirements of degree courses in academic healthcare.

- How the various components of the musculoskeletal system work
- Human bones and muscles
- Structure and function of the large joints

Learning objectives:

Module 1: Cytology
The students know the structure of the cell, cell organelles and their function as well as the characteristics of different cell types. They also understand cell metabolism.

Module 2: Histology & Embryology
Students know the microscopically visualisable fine structure of organs, connective tissue and their cells. They understand the development of the human organism from the fertilisation of the egg cell to the mature foetus and are aware of the essential foundations for the important field of reproductive biology.

Module 3: Cardiovascular system
Students understand the circulatory system, the structure of blood vessels, the heart and how it works. They can distinguish arteries from capillaries and veins.

Module 4: Respiratory system
Students understand the complexity of the respiratory system and know the structure and function of the respiratory system and recognise its complexity.

Module 5: Blood and immune system
Students know the components and functions of the blood. They understand that blood and the immune system form an inseparable unit. They also know the organs of the immune system and understand their function.

Module 6: Musculoskeletal system
Students know and differentiate between the components of the active and passive musculoskeletal system and can explain the functions of the various components of the musculoskeletal system
