Detaillierter Inhalt:

The primary goal of this course is to introduce students to the course subject International Project Management with its sub-components of Communication Media, Tools for International Project Management, Intercultural Conflicts/Challenges in an International Environment and Project Management. The focus will enable students to subsequently participate in more advanced courses instructed in English, and or function successfully in projects involving an international dimension. This course will not only deepen their knowledge of the subject material in English, but provide participants with the skills to succeed in virtual or traditional learning environments in related subjects. These subjects are of current interest worldwide and the primary language of instruction is English. Thus, participants will be empowered to further participate in more advanced courses in Germany, or abroad that may be instructed in the English language.

A subsequent goal of this course is to expand students awareness of the current state of research and practical skills in related subject matters, both within Germany and internationally. The use of interviews, case studies, audio-video (AV) or audio resources, as well as course shareware (from relevant universities, for example (e.g.,) MIT) will increase relevant knowledge of best-in-practice industry.

This course is suitable for students with an intermediate level of English (B-1/2 based on the Common European Framework). The course structure will improve students abilities and interaction in facets of the English language including written, listening and reading comprehension. This approach is very suitable for a virtual learning environment. Successful completion of this course should allow participants to take subsequent specialised courses at an upper-intermediate level (B-2 / C-1) in the English language). Students from every semester of a bachelor or master's programme (Business, Engineering or Industrial Engineering faculties) would be suitable to participate in this course.

The virtual course, International Project Management B2 is comprised of 13 units (13 semester weeks). The structure of the course is divided into an introductory week, the 4 core modules of Communication Media, Tools for International Project Management, Intercultural Conflicts/Challenges in an International Environment and Project Management(3 units/weeks per module), plus an in-class final exam. The final in-class exam is the only unit of the course which is not virtual.

The course design will comprise interactive, dynamic, static and visual elements. Such an approach is possible through Moodle and relevant e-content learning tools. The combination of these elements should satisfy an e-knowledgeable audience while maximising the learning possibilities of a virtual course.

The introductory week will provide students with an overview of the course and their course requirements. The course structure necessitates the weekly participation of students. They will be able to use all course tools (e.g., online quizzes, Wiki, group forums, audio-video or audio clips as required. The regular use of online quizzes as well as forums and Wikis will enable tutors to easily track student participation. Students will be provided with an electronic frequently asked questions (FAQ) or help guide for relevant technical questions.

The modules are so designed to introduce students to the subject material in a logical order and similar structure throughout the course. Thus, the initial module will be Communication Media. Skills learned in these units will be regularly practised throughout the course.

Material learned in a prior module should support and advance the learning of students in subsequent modules. As each module will be similarily structured, participants will be easily able to navigate through the modules.
