Abstract:
The course teaches the basics of using hardware and software in your studies and later career. It provides an understanding of regulatory frameworks, critical reflection on the use and output of software products, and the use and administration of important software components such as Office products, cloud applications, and groupware systems.

Detaillierter Inhalt:
Chapter 1:
Chapter 1 provides an introduction to the course. It explains the software systems covered in the course, their development, history, and significance.
Chapter 2:
Chapter 2 provides a detailed overview of the concepts of data, information, and knowledge. It covers data types, data formats, data management, knowledge management, and databases.
Chapter 3:
The next section deals with the basics of IT security: fundamental potential risks, preventive and defensive measures, and measures to be taken in the event of damage.
Chapter 4:
Chapter 4 provides an introduction to data protection law and its application in a business environment. It also deals with rights and obligations in a corporate environment and introduces the tasks of the data protection officer.
Chapter 5:
In Chapter 5, we deal with the most important Office programs and various hardware platforms. This also covers the use of different formats, their similarities and differences, and the topic of conversion. Finally, basic operating concepts and possible applications are presented.
Chapter 6:
In Chapter 6, we deal with Microsoft Word. There is an introduction to the most important functions for creating documents, publications, and form letters, taking into account academic publication and formatting requirements.
Chapter 7:
Chapter 7 provides an introduction to Microsoft Excel. It covers the most important functions of spreadsheets, including formulas, charts, and pivot tables.
Chapter 8:
Microsoft PowerPoint is the topic of Chapter 8. It provides an introduction to creating and structuring presentations. We also cover formatting and animations.
Chapter 9:
Chapter 9 focuses on media literacy, in particular the safe use of the internet and social media and the critical handling of information. Students also gain an insight into the basics of media creation, responsibility in its distribution, and consumption.
Chapter 10:
Chapter 10 provides an overview of the most important groupware systems and their use in the context of communication and collaboration. It also covers synchronous and asynchronous communication and integration into other systems.
Chapter 11:
Chapter 11 offers an introduction to AI: description, functionality, benefits and limitations, legal framework, correct prompting, evaluating results.
Chapter 12:
The last chapter deals with the field of IT systems. Topics covered include IT system landscapes, servers, networks, the Internet, and intranets.
Lern-/Qualifikationsziele:
The course aims to provide students with knowledge of essential methods of business informatics and the ability to apply these to issues in economics and professional practice.
Specifically, upon completion of the module, students will have achieved the following learning objectives:
Technical expertise:
- Students will be familiar with the basics of IT: computers, networks (especially the Internet), and software for processing information.
- They will understand the limitations and possibilities of IT support.
- They will be familiar with the essential aspects of data security and data protection and will be able to apply them in everyday business life.
- They are familiar with the aspects of various software systems such as Office, groupware, and artificial intelligence.
- They can assess their potential and benefits for companies and use them in a practical manner.
Methodological competence:
- Students are able to use IT systems efficiently.
- They are able to use Office and office communication software in everyday professional life.
- Students are able to create presentations, scientific papers, evaluations with spreadsheets, and small databases.
Personal competence:
- Students are able to improve their time management and self-study skills as they work through selected content with virtual teaching.
